The Pierce Raiders softball team wrapped up their 2024 season with a doubleheader split against the Skagit Valley Cardinals, winning game one 10-8 and narrowly falling 7-5 in game two. The Raiders finished the year with an overall record of 14-26 and a conference record of 14-18 — their best finish in more than seven years.
In game one, the Raiders' offense came alive with 11 hits. Nola Reily and Amelia Lopez each tallied two hits, while Karen Cervantes-Macias, Emma Loera, Ava Lewis, Taylor Smith, Kayla Jarreau, Hailie Mathews, and Samantha Tungsvik all chipped in one hit apiece. Tungsvik went the distance in the circle, earning the win with six strikeouts and no walks.
In the season finale, the Raiders battled hard. Senior Samantha Tungsvik ended her Raider career in memorable fashion, collecting three hits — including a double and a home run — while scoring two runs and driving in one. Reily, Lopez, Smith, Loera, and Cervantes-Macias each added a hit in the effort. Cervantes-Macias pitched 6.2 strong innings with two strikeouts and no walks.
With a season full of fight, growth, and achievement, the Raiders walk away proud, closing the chapter on a milestone year and setting the tone for seasons to come.
