South Puget Sound Surges Past Raiders

The Pierce College Raiders traveled to Olympia on Wednesday night to face South Puget Sound, coming up short in a 73-41 contest.

Pierce opened the game with energy, trailing just 13-11 after the first quarter. However, South Puget Sound created separation in the second quarter, outscoring the Raiders 27-5 to take a 40-16 lead into halftime. SPS continued to extend its advantage in the third (21-12) before Pierce showed fight in the fourth quarter, nearly matching the Clippers with a 13-12 edge in the final period.

Malea Berridge led the Raiders offensively with 17 points, knocking down five three-pointers on 5-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc. She added two steals in 38 minutes of action. Adhau Chol provided a strong presence inside, finishing with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Alicia-Ellalynn Soliai also pulled down seven boards to go along with three points.

Maesha Muaau contributed five points and six rebounds off the bench, and Tia Schanbeck added six rebounds, two steals, and a block.

As a team, Pierce shot 31.7% from the field (13-of-41) and 40% from three-point range (6-of-15). The Raiders collected 42 total rebounds, including 33 on the defensive end, but were hindered by turnovers on the road.
