Raiders Sweep Highline at Home
Pierce softball put together a complete performance on April 3rd at home, sweeping Highline in a doubleheader with a 7-4 win in game one and a 5-0 shutout in game two. The Raiders combined timely hitting with strong pitching to secure both victories.
Game 1: Pierce 7, Highline 4
Pierce used a big middle inning and consistent offensive pressure to take game one 7-4.
The Raiders tallied 10 hits and drew six walks, with Emma Loera leading the way with a perfect 3-for-3 performance and three runs scored. Kaylie Marshall added a strong outing at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Hallie Beers chipped in two hits and an RBI.
Pierce got on the board early in the first when Shelby Mason scored on a wild pitch. After trading runs in the second, the Raiders broke things open in the fourth inning. Alosina Fuiava delivered an RBI single, and Jadyn Johnson followed with a two-RBI play that helped Pierce take control. The Raiders capitalized on defensive miscues by Highline, plating multiple unearned runs to extend the lead.
They added two more runs in the fifth, highlighted by an RBI single from Beers and another run driven in by Marshall.
In the circle, Karen Cervantes-Macias went the distance to earn the win, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out six and walking just one. She kept Highline in check after the early innings to secure the victory.
Game 2: Pierce 5, Highline 0
Pierce completed the sweep with a dominant 5-0 shutout in game two, backed by a stellar pitching performance and clutch hitting.
Audrey Deviney was outstanding in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just three hits. She struck out seven and worked around three walks to keep Highline off the scoreboard.
Offensively, the Raiders struck in the fourth inning when Jadyn Johnson scored on a sacrifice fly from Kaylie Marshall. Pierce then broke the game open in the sixth inning.
Hallie Beers launched a solo home run to extend the lead, and Marshall followed with an RBI single. Kayla Jarreaudelivered the biggest hit of the game with a two-RBI single to cap the scoring.
Marshall finished a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, while Beers added a home run and two runs scored. Johnson contributed with a triple and scored the game’s first run.
