Raiders Drop Doubleheader at Edmonds

The Pierce College softball team fell in both games of a doubleheader against Edmonds College, dropping game one 11-1 before battling in an 8-4 loss in game two.

Game One: Edmonds 11, Pierce 1

Pierce struggled to slow down Edmonds’ offense in the opener, surrendering 11 runs on 11 hits in the five-inning contest. Karen Cervantes-Macias took the loss in the circle, working four innings with three strikeouts.

Offensively, the Raiders were limited but saw contributions from Hallie Beers, who recorded a double and scored Pierce’s lone run. Audrey Deviney also added a hit, but the Raiders were unable to string together enough offense to keep pace.

Game Two: Edmonds 8, Pierce 4

The Raiders responded with a much stronger showing in game two, keeping things competitive through much of the contest.

Pierce got on the board early in the first inning when Audrey Deviney doubled to drive in Brooklyn Crass for a 1-0 lead.

After Edmonds answered, Pierce regained momentum in the fourth inning behind Amelia Lopez, who launched a two-run home run to give the Raiders a 3-2 advantage. The Raiders added another run in the fifth when Emma Loera worked an RBI walk, extending the lead to 4-2.

Edmonds responded in the sixth inning with a five-run surge to take control of the game and ultimately secure the 8-4 win.

Pierce totaled seven hits in game two, with Deviney leading the way with two hits and an RBI. Lopez and Loera each drove in runs, while Alosina Fuiava crossed the plate twice. Deviney also went the distance in the circle, striking out four over six innings in the loss.

Up Next: Pierce will host Skagit Valley on Saturday, March 21st at 12pm and 2pm.
