Centralia
The Pierce Raiders traveled to Centralia on Sunday, Feb. 22, falling in both games of the doubleheader as Centralia secured an 11-2 win in game one and an 8-4 victory in game two.
Game One: Centralia 11, Pierce 2
Pierce showed flashes offensively in the opener but couldn’t overcome a nine-run inning from Centralia in the bottom of the third.
Hallie Beers led the way at the plate, finishing 2-for-2 with two base hits, including a double, a run scored, and a walk. Alosina Fuiava continued her strong offensive presence, going 2-for-3 with a single and a double, and driving in both Raider runs. Kayla Jarreau also contributed with a double as Pierce collected multiple extra-base hits in the contest.
In the circle, Audrey Deviney (0-1) took the loss, throwing 2.1 innings while allowing six hits and seven earned runs with five walks and one strikeout. Aspyn Evanson pitched 1.2 innings in relief, striking out two while allowing four hits and four earned runs.
Despite solid contact at the plate, Pierce was unable to string together enough timely hits to close the gap as Centralia pulled away for the 11-2 final.
Game Two: Centralia 8, Pierce 4
The Raiders responded with a more balanced effort in game two, staying competitive throughout before Centralia used two big innings to secure the sweep.
Brooklyn Crass doubled, drove in a run, and added a stolen base to spark the offense. Alosina Fuiava continued to produce, tallying a hit and two RBI. Shelby Mason reached base three times with a double, an RBI, and two walks, while Grace Field added a double, a run scored, and a walk. Amelia Lopez chipped in with a hit, a run, and a walk.
In the circle, Aspyn Evanson started and delivered three strong innings, allowing just one run on four hits while working through five walks. Karen Cervantes-Macias (0-2) came on in relief, pitching three innings and recording the decision after allowing seven earned runs on nine hits.
Pierce’s offense showed improved patience and power in the second game, but Centralia capitalized on key scoring opportunities to finish off the 8-4 win.
Up Next: Pierce will head to Yakima on Saturday, February 28th, for an afternoon double header against the Yaks at 12pm and 2pm.
