Raiders Sweep Douglas with Strong Offensive Performance

The Pierce College Raiders softball team came out strong against the Douglas Royals, securing their first two wins of the season with a dominant 11-3 victory in game one and a solid 7-3 win in game two.

In the opener, the Raiders wasted no time, exploding for eight runs in the top of the first inning to take early control. They added one more run in the second and two in the third to seal the win. Nola Reily contributed with a double, an RBI, and a run scored, while Amber Burgess also doubled, driving in two runs. Kayla Jarreau tallied two runs, two hits—including a double—and an RBI. Emma Loera, Taylor Smith, and Ava Lewis all played key roles in the offensive outburst, combining for five runs. Hailie Mathews also added two hits and an RBI. Karen Cervantes-Macias went the distance in the circle, pitching a complete game while allowing just six hits, three runs, and three walks, striking out three.

Game two saw another strong showing from the Raiders, as they responded to Douglas’ first-inning run with a four-run second inning. They tacked on two more in the sixth and an insurance run in the seventh to seal the 7-3 victory. Emma Loera doubled, drove in a run, and scored once, while Taylor Smith and Sophie Zacher each recorded two hits. Samantha Tungsvik was the standout performer, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles, an RBI, and two runs. She also dominated in the circle, pitching a complete game, allowing only four hits and three runs, while walking none and striking out five.

With the sweep, the Raiders gain momentum heading into their next series, looking to build on their success.
