Raiders Sweep Tacoma at Home to Claim Series

Pierce College closed out its four-game set against Tacoma in dominant fashion on Saturday, April 4, sweeping the doubleheader with two mercy-rule, walk-off victories at home. The Raiders took game one 10-0 in eight innings and followed with a commanding 12-2 win in seven innings, securing the series victory with a 3-1 record.

Game 1: Pierce 10, Tacoma 8 (8 innings)

Pierce’s offense exploded early and never let up, piling up 14 hits in a high-scoring affair that ended via mercy rule in the eighth inning.

The Raiders jumped out to a fast start with three runs in the first inning, highlighted by RBI hits from Tristan Ringrose, Andrew Dyk, and Jackson Copeland. That momentum carried into the middle innings as Pierce steadily built its lead.

Jeb English turned in a huge performance at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while Copeland led the way with three hits, three runs scored, and an RBI. Christian Dominno also contributed with two hits and two RBIs, and Dyk added a pair of hits and a run driven in.

Pierce broke the game open in the fifth inning, scoring three more runs, including another RBI from English and a run-scoring double by Dominno. The offensive depth continued to shine as multiple players contributed throughout the lineup.

On the mound, Santiago Guedez-Rodriguez delivered a complete-game performance, tossing all eight innings while allowing just four hits and no earned runs, striking out four. His steady presence helped Pierce maintain control as the offense sealed the 10-8 walk-off mercy-rule victory.

Game 2: Pierce 12, Tacoma 2 (7 innings, walk-off mercy rule)

Pierce carried its momentum into game two, delivering a complete team performance in another mercy-rule win.

After Tacoma struck early, the Raiders quickly responded and took control of the game with consistent offensive pressure. Pierce totaled 12 runs on 12 hits while drawing an impressive 11 walks, showcasing patience and discipline at the plate.

Nariyuki Dumlao set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored, two RBIs, and two walks. Bradley Carl had a standout game as well, finishing 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBIs, and a stolen base.

Tristan Ringrose continued his strong day with three hits and two RBIs, while Yacel Limonta drove in two runs and reached base four times. Dominno added three hits and an RBI, contributing to Pierce’s balanced offensive attack.

The Raiders broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Dumlao and another two-run double from Carl.

On the mound, Gavin Thunstrom was outstanding in relief, earning the win with 6.1 innings of work, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out four. He stabilized the game after a brief start and helped guide Pierce to the 12-2 victory.

Pierce capped the game in the seventh inning with a walk-off sacrifice fly from Dyk and an RBI single from Limonta to enforce the mercy rule.
