Raiders Split First Day of Series Against Skagit Valley

The Pierce Raiders split their doubleheader against Skagit Valley, falling 5-3 in the opener before bouncing back with a commanding 7-1 victory in game two.

Game One – Skagit Valley 5, Pierce 3

Pierce match Skagit Valley with 7 hits in the opener but couldn’t overcome a late surge, as Skagit Valley pulled away for a 5-3 win.

Yacel Limonta led the Raiders at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a run scored. Tristan Ringrose added a double, drove in a run, and worked a walk, while Jackson Copeland tallied a double and two RBI. Jeb English contributed a pinch-hit single, and Nariyuki Dumlao and Izaiah Koko each recorded a hit.

On the bases, Christian Dominno, Hudson Cunningham (2), Nariyuki Dumlao, and Izaiah Koko combined for five stolen bases, keeping pressure on the defense throughout the game.

On the mound, Vayden Lawrence delivered a strong start, throwing 6.0 innings while allowing just three hits and one earned run, striking out six. Broq Powlus took the loss in relief, and Josh Moore and Kyondre Rhoads combined to finish the final innings. Pierce pitchers totaled nine strikeouts in the contest.

Despite steady pitching and aggressive baserunning, Skagit Valley capitalized on four runs in the top of the 8th to secure the win.

Game Two – Pierce 7, Skagit Valley 1

The Raiders responded in game two with a complete performance, riding dominant pitching and timely hitting to a 7-1 victory.

Christian Dominno sparked the offense, going 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and three stolen bases. Riley Sanoy delivered a key performance, collecting a hit and driving in two runs. Jackson Copeland added a triple, while Nate Soto, Tristan Ringrose, and Nariyuki Dumlao each drove in a run. Pierce finished with eight hits and swiped eight bases as a team.

On the mound, Keenan Masters earned the win with an impressive outing, tossing 5.0 shutout innings while allowing just three hits and striking out 11. Hunter Eisele added two scoreless innings of relief, and Gavin Thunstrom closed out the final two frames. The trio combined for 14 strikeouts and limited Skagit Valley to just one run on six hits.

Pierce’s ability to control the game from the mound and apply consistent offensive pressure helped secure the split and build momentum heading into the remainder of the series.
