Raiders Drop Doubleheader to Everett at Home

The Pierce College Raiders fell in both games of a Saturday doubleheader against Everett on February 28, dropping game one 5-0 and game two 12-4 at home. Despite solid efforts on the mound and aggressive baserunning in the nightcap, Pierce was unable to generate enough timely offense to overcome Everett in either contest.

Game 1: Everett 5, Pierce 0

Pierce was limited to just three hits in the opener as Everett controlled the game from the early innings.

Christian Dominno, Hudson Cunningham, and Kai Halstead led the lineup, with Halstead, Jackson Copeland, and Nariyuki Dumlao accounting for the Raiders’ three hits. Pierce drew two walks and stole one base, courtesy of Cunningham, but struggled to string together scoring opportunities.

On the mound, Hunter Eisele started and worked two innings, allowing two runs. Braden Bedell followed with an inning of relief before Santiago Guedez-Rodriguez delivered a strong outing out of the bullpen. Guedez-Rodriguez tossed five innings and allowed just one hit while keeping Everett off the scoreboard during his appearance.

Late runs by Everett added insurance, and Pierce was unable to respond offensively, finishing with 28 at-bats and no runs in the 5-0 loss.

Game 2: Everett 12, Pierce 4

Game two featured more offensive production from the Raiders, but Everett capitalized on key innings to secure the sweep.

Pierce tallied four runs on four hits while drawing an impressive 10 walks. Christian Dominno reached base four times via walks and scored twice. Kai Halstead led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance, including a double and two RBIs. Andrew Dyk and Jackson Copeland each drove in a run, both recording sacrifice flies to contribute to the scoring.

The Raiders were aggressive on the basepaths, stealing multiple bags. Dominno swiped five bases, while Nariyuki Dumlao, Halstead (two), and Nate Soto each added steals.

Vayden Lawrence started on the mound and went 4.2 innings. Gavin Thunstrom, Eddie Winkley, and Alex Campos followed in relief, with Campos providing three scoreless innings to close out the game.

Everett collected 16 hits in the contest and used several multi-run innings to pull away, handing Pierce the 12-4 defeat.

Up Next: Pierce will travel to Everett tomorrow, Sunday, March 1st for another doubleheader at 1pm and 4pm.
