The Pierce College Raiders battled against No. 6 ranked Lane College in a doubleheader, coming away with a dramatic 1-0 walk-off victory in game one before falling 11-5 in game two.
Game one was a classic pitcher's duel, with sophomore Cooper Weygandt delivering a dominant complete-game shutout. Weygandt struck out 11 batters while allowing just two hits and three walks, keeping the Titans off the scoreboard. Offensively, the Raiders were also limited to two hits, but they made the last one count. In the bottom of the seventh, Bo Stinson came through in the clutch, knocking a walk-off single to score Bradley Carl from third and secure the 1-0 victory.
In game two, Pierce jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding one in both the second and third. However, Lane responded with a big fourth inning to take the lead. The Raiders fought back, cutting the deficit to one run in the sixth, but Lane pulled away with four runs in the seventh to seal the 11-5 win. Bo Stinson continued his strong day at the plate with two hits, including a double, two runs, an RBI, and a stolen base. Joel Fernandez contributed two hits and two RBIs, while Kadin Kingsbury added a hit, a stolen base, and a run.
On the mound, Vayden Lawrence started for the Raiders, pitching three innings with one strikeout. Freddy Frias-Moreno and Jason Marshall each provided solid relief, with Marshall tossing a scoreless inning. Jackson Burtis closed out the game, allowing just one hit while striking out two.
Despite the split, the Raiders showed resilience against a highly ranked opponent, highlighted by their thrilling walk-off win.
